September 2011

Dear Fellow Followers of Christ:

The month of September is a big month for us as a community of Christ followers. On September 20, we will have been worshipping at Pedrotti’s Northwind Ranch for two very full years. On September 12, we will have been serving in common mission with the community from St. Michael’s for one full year. And hopefully by September of 2012, I will be writing from our new worship space or at least talking about an eagerly anticipated move-in date.

August saw our staff grow considerably as The Rev. Kelly S. Conkling and James Garcia both joined our staff as the Assistant Vicar for Pastoral Care and Assistant Music Minister. I wrote a letter to each of you thanking you for your faithfulness this summer and talking a bit more about Kelly and James joining our staff. What is most important is that because of your faithfulness to “Restoring all people to unity with God and each other in Christ” through the Church of the Holy Spirit, we have been able to responsibly grow our staff and begin to build the capacity and ministry offerings within our congregation to serve God’s world.

As we turn toward September, I am quite excited for the “program year” to unfold. Your Bishop’s Committee and I have chosen the theme of the Parable of the Sower for this year as we plant and God nurtures many seeds. This parable can be found in Matthew 13:1-9, Mark 4:8, and Luke 8:5-8. While we collectively work toward our new Sacred Space, it is also essential that we remain focused on serving the Lord and the many ways that we are each called. Some of us are working on our personal stewardship through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Others will seek to study through many of our formation classes on Sunday mornings. And still others have volunteered to serve as a part of the Called Back to the Well program for church leaders to help build a strong spiritual foundation for all that we do in Christ’s name at the Church of the Holy Spirit.  Not bad for a ranchin’ church!

Please be sure to mark your calendar for our very special Homecoming Jazz Mass featuring the Small World Jazz Band as we celebrate our life together, those who have recently joined us, and the Feast of St. Michael. Thank you for all that you do to help make the Church of the Holy Spirit a place for all of God’s people.

Faithfully,

Jason
